It is with much sadness that I must post news of Sparkle's death. Just shy of three years, she led a remarkable life for a little goldfish who came home with me from Jackie and Blake's wedding three years ago November. With her best friend Sarah she embarked on a cross country adventure with Ciara and Jenn as they drove from Toronto to Vancouver via Salt Lake City, Utah; Mt. Shasta, California and Ashland, Oregon.

Sparkle will be laid to rest this evening at dog park beach, tucked gently into the sand near the long grass to remind her of the plants in her tank.

Here are some photos from the adventures we shared.

And finally Trent with the girls at Christmas time

I remember the first time we met. The ladies were a little swim-offish initially and I knew I had some work to do. I may have been more nervous to meet the girls than other relatives! Somewhere between spite and malevolence came a grudging acceptance of my intrusion into their lives.

Being a late addition to such a tight knit triad isn’t easy. With a little sweet talk, some fishy faces, and a few frozen peas later I think they almost enjoyed my presence. It took awhile, (all good things do) but the ladies (including Jennifer) and I got along swimmingly by the end of my stay! Refer to our Christmas goodbye posted above.

The little I do know of Sparkle is that she lived an adventurous life for a goldfish, but she wasn’t adverse to just curling up with some tea and a good book. That sounds like a wonderful balance to me! Miss you.
