I'm all checked in and ready to catch the red-eye to TO tonight. Web check-in has to be one of the greatest developments in modern travel. I love the fact that all I will have to do is turn up at the airport at around 10PM, pass through security and then its right onto the plane. I've got a new book, my travel pillow, ear plugs and gravol all ready for the flight.
But before I head to the airport, its off to a farewell dinner for a friend moving to Kelowna. We have reservations at Watermark which is right on Kits Beach and has the best view of the sunset in the city.
Well fed, tired from a late evening of fireworks followed by packing...this bodes well for a good flight...I should be out before we even take off.

I am my mother
More and more I see the resemblances between myself and my mother. I've been told many times how much I look like my mother, even more so I think as I age (dear god..did I just say that?). When I looked in the mirror today it hit me that the skirt I am wearing today could just as easily have been hers. I love skirts and I can remember her closet being full of them. From my voracious appetite to read, my love of tea to putting comfort ahead of fashion; I really am like her. And I think that's a good thing.

Two things
- Really disappointed I wasn't in the boat this morning to see the fisher that jumped into the boat as described over at VOC
- Temperature update:
Van 18C
TO 36C feels like 46C
MI 35C feels like 46C
Wow...I am I ever glad to be in Van right now! I actually wore a cardigan to work today as it was cool this morning.
I've just started reading The History of Love by Nicole Krauus. The main character has just made reference to one of his favourite stories as a child, the Little Prince by Antione de Saint Exupery. It just so happens that I loaded that audio book on to my ipod last night. Weird huh?
Went into a local surf shop last night to pick up a gift for a friend's bday. Thought I would just ask if they had any Mini Malibu's there. Proceeded to make a total fool of myself when I didn't realize that they were a hugely popular category of board...I had just thought there were a few models and they were probably hard to come by. I'm sure the guy thought I was a total nutter and had never surfed a day in my life.
Must eat...very hungry.
