Will today ever end? The day is just crawling as I try and wrap things up here before heading off to MI for 10 days. I'm desperately waiting to hear back from people on a number of events that are occuring while I am gone and trying to do some some planning for a conference in Whistler at the end of September. Unfortunately I can't move ahead on any of these things as all of the executives are away on conference...timing couldn't be much worse. Oh well.

I think I may even have exhausted the internet. What else can I research? I now know every possible flight combination to get me to Deline NT and let me tell you, its complicated. I've also spent some good time looking for new music and catching up on the news. It's incredible how many sites have picked up the Tofino water shortage story. I guess things worked out for the best, if I hadn't been going to MI this weekend I probably would have headed over there to catch some surf. And what's with this Jessica Simpson - John Mayer gossip? Did he not watch Nick and Jessica - Newly Weds or whatever it was called?

The BBC is reporting that Tea "healthier' drink than water. While this is good news for me (I probably drink more tea than water) you have to wonder about the validity when the study was sponsored by The Tea Council.

In other news, a collegue gave me a jar of Marmite today from his trip to England. It comes just in time as I am nearing the end of my last jar. This should hold me over until my Dad returns from his trip to England in mid October. My mouth is just watering at the thought of having a toasted bagel with marmite....yum!

The trip to Edmonton was short but sweet. I was first off the plane and luckily didn't have to take anyone down as I sprinted through the arrivals area. From the airport, after a quick bite to eat and getting some advice from Bill an airport volunteer Trent had befriended, we were off to the West Edmonton Mall (WEM) on a shuttle bus. The WEM really is quite impressive, its big and there's a lot going on there (water park, amusement park, aquarium, mini golf). We decided to take in the amusement park and rode the MindBuster in the front row (frontwards) and the last row (backwards) twice. It was quite the experience, leaving us both a little nauseous and shaken, but nothing a little Mc D's french fries & orange drink couldn't fix . We also took in the Edmonton Fringe Festival in the Old Strathcona neighbourhood. We didn't have time to take in any shows but wandered the festival grounds and caught, or more precisely were caught by several buskers. From there we met up with Trent's uncle for a quick drink before heading back to the airport to pick up bags we had checked upon my arrival. And so, that was Edmonton. I'm not sure what else there is to do there but our short time was well spent. Trent is now safely in Norman Wells for a few days of orientation before heading off to Deline to begin his teaching assignment, and I am off to the pool to swim a few laps on a beautiful warm sunny Sunday afternoon here in Vancouver.

I'm totally wowed at the service I have gotten today from David at The Mac Station here in Vancouver. He managed to tracked down one of the last Mac Books in the GVA for me this morning and has been great at working with TW and I to get it set up so TW can just plug in and go once he is in the NWT's. For all his help, I've picked up David some Cookies by George. I hope I don't eat them all before I have a chance to deliver them.
